Sea glass is an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to mined gemstones.
In days gone by, unwanted bottles, jars, ornaments, and tableware were historically dumped at sea. These items have then been tossed and turned in the ocean, crashing against rocks and our coastline to create sea glass, which then washes up on our shores. This natural weathering process creates frosted and textured glass. Sea glass can take between 10 to 50 years, and in some cases up to 100 years to acquire its charm, shape, and texture.
Each washed-up piece of sea glass is exclusive and has been on a unique journey through the oceans, tides, and time.
Sea glass is commonly graded into a rarity chart, based on colours:
Ultra-Rare: Orange | Turquoise | Red | Yellow | Black | Teal | Grey | Purple | Pink
Rare: Aqua | Cobalt | Cornflower Blue
Scarce: Amber | Sea Foam Green | Olive Green
Frequent: White | Brown | Green
Other sea glass characteristics such as condition, size, shape, texture, age, and pattern can also contribute to the sea glass rarity and its value.
Unless otherwise stated, all sea glass we use in our products has been beachcombed by ourselves in the Isle of Man.
To brighten your sea glass up, use mild soapy water which will remove surface dirt. To enhance the shine of your sea glass, a tiny amount of baby oil can be added to the surface.
Our jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver which can be prone to tarnishing (dulling) over time. To keep your jewellery looking its best, we recommend that you avoid contact with salt water, swimming pools, household chemicals/cleaning products, perfumes, and creams.
We advise that you purchase a silver polishing cloth to occasionally buff your jewellery. Do not buff sea glass with the cloth as it can cause the sea glass to discolour.
With all our sea glass jewellery that uses a bezel setting, it is imperative that you follow the above guidelines. If salt water, perfumes, chemicals etc. do manage to get underneath the sea glass, it can cause black tarnish to build underneath the sea glass.
If you follow the above advice, you will reduce the likelihood of your jewellery tarnishing and you’ll keep your jewellery looking as good as new.
In the UK, ring sizes are measured alphabetically from A to Z.
There are lots of hints/tips online how to obtain your measurement but the most accurate way of measuring your ring size would be to visit your local jeweller.
4 inches by 4 inches (in black and white)
5 inches by 7 inches (in black and white)
6 inches by 6 inches (in white)
8 inches by 8 inches (in white)
Hallmarking is only required if the silver element within the jewellery piece exceeds 7.78g in weight.
